Race Report

On Sunday we welcomed paddlers from as far afield as Cumbria, York, Malton and Rotherham to our autumn race. It was a bit windy but the rain held off until after all the racing had finished. Our club was well represented and we picked up quite a few of the prizes. The results (click here) are still only provisional and there may yet be some promotions to be announced but we can all be pleased with our performances (except me). Two of our youngsters had never raced before and put in exceptional effort in the conditions – we look forward to their continued progress. This is one paddler’s personal story :-

The Derwent Descent Sunday 26th October

If you are interested in competing in this event, which is on the PaddleUK marathon calendar and race entry system, or just fancy paddling 10 miles down the Derwent that is normally closed at your own pace, please contact our marathon rep Graham Simpkin in the first instance on disciplines@gscc-online.com.

We have limited boats available, including our two wavehopper racers and our touring fleet or canoe fleet. You will have to make your own arrangements for getting the boat to the venue.
