Pool Sessions Cancelled, river to Continue on Saturdays

Pool Sessions Cancelled

The Committee has made the hard decision to cancel the Pool Sessions for this winter due to Covid 19. What we do in the pool will be extremely difficult for the coaches to deliver in a safe manner, and we feel that the limited paddling we can do will not give you value for money.

Instead of the pool we are trying something new, and that is to continue paddling outside during the winter months, starting on Saturday 3rd October.

This means tomorrow’s session will be the last Thursday session and next Tuesday will be the last evening marathon session.(Please note the earlier start time for next Tuesday only: 6:00pm ON-THE-WATER)

Winter River Sessions

These sessions will be on-the-water at 10:00am on Saturday mornings for our normal coached sessions (instead of Thursday evening), and 2:00pm on-the-water on Saturday afternoons for marathon training (instead of Tuesday evening). We may be able to offer SUP on Saturday mornings if the demand is there.

These sessions are under the same rules and regs as our evening sessions, so unfortunately are not for complete beginners at the moment. Anyone who had paddled with us previously in the pool or on the river is welcome. Please book through Gail as usual.

The big difference to our summer sessions is of course the temperature. All paddlers must be suitably dressed and we will be issuing more guidance on that in a future email. Our coaches reserve the right to refuse access to the water if you are not suitably dressed.

All sessions will be subject to:

  • Enough coaches being available
  • Suitable river and weather conditions,
  • The latest Covid restrictions

For the Club to remain Covid 19 Secure, please follow all the guidance given, maintain social distancing when you at the club and when you are on the water. If we cannot achieve this we will have to reconsider what we can deliver as a club.

On behalf of the Committee

Kind Regards
