Pool and River Sessions Cancelled Until 30th April

Following the advice from British Canoeing and the statement by the Government yesterday, the GSCC Management Committee have taken the following steps as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic:

  • To cancel the Brigg Marathon and Jetty opening on 29th March.
  • To cancel all river sessions until after 30th April at the earliest. British Canoeing have not explicitly said there is to be no outdoor training but we as a club have considered all the advice available and decided that it is not sensible to run any river sessions until after the 30th April at earliest.
  • To cancel the final two Pool sessions on the upcoming Saturday nights. These have been cancelled to help in the country’s aim of reducing virus transmission rates by social distancing.
  • To cancel our club weekend at Tees Barrage on 11/12th April and our Moving Water Day at Wagon lane on 19th April.

I realise this will disappoint many of our members but as I’m sure everyone knows these are difficult times.

Can I please ask that if you are booked on any pool or river session that you reply to Gail (bookings) by email bookings@gscc-online.com, by phone on 07759 623258, or on the corresponding post on our Facebook page, to let her know you are aware that your sessions in the pool and on the river are cancelled, starting this week  21st March.

I have asked that the credit for courses my son was booked on be held over until we start paddling again but if you would like a refund can you again contact Gail separately.

Once again, sorry for having to take this action but I’m sure  you all can agree that  we all need to make changes to our lives at present .

All the best, keep well and stay safe.
