Slalom News

Another great day on the Slalom trail on Saturday at Darley Abbey near Derby, a great location and nice friendly run div3/4 event.

Hannah Senior and Jamelia Snow both paddled, with this been Hannah’s first big event after been promoted to div 3 last weekend. The course was quite big with some fast flows and difficult eddy lines in places but both did great.

Two excellent runs from Jamelia Snow saw her take 1st place and promotion to div 2. Well done Jamelia!

Marathon News

Some of our Hasler marathon paddlers competed at Lincoln Hasler on Sunday. This was more of a training day as Lincoln is outside our region so we didn’t score any points, but it does count as one of the three qualifying races a paddler needs to have done if he/she wants to compete in next years final.

Ellie Beedham got a good second place in the Lightning class U12 girls, and we tried a new K2 pairing of Nicole Allison and Caitlin Marley.

Boat News

We’ve bought a second hand K2 to add to our  fleet, so that makes 3!

Discipline Training News

Are you inspired by our slalom and marathon success to have a go? For the next four Tuesdays in October, starting on the 10th, we will be having discipline training on the river, in slalom and marathon. Please note we still have only a limited number of racing boats and our current racers will be training, so your time in a racing boat may be restricted, but we do really want to encourage other members to have a go. (Don’t forget we will be getting eight new marathon boats very soon thanks to the Sport England Grant).

The only pre-requisites are that you are at one star or passport standard, don’t mind getting wet and have suitable clothing for the weather..

We will be on the water at 6:30 prompt due to the failing light (earlier if people are ready) so please be at the boathouse for 6:00pm
