Hope you are all keeping safe and great to see some of you gradually returning to the river sessions.
Just to keep everyone upto date on current club developments.
As many of you know, at the start of the year several of the committee got together to discuss an application to Sport England who were offering grants to help improve sports venues. As a group we decided to submit an application to see if we could get any funding to insulate part of the boat house, changing rooms kitchen area and a multi activity area.
We envisaged at that time that insulation would mean the boathouse could become an all year round venue . Many people have asked for this in the past as well as younger members wanting to create a ‘cosy corner’ and meeting up as a youth group if there was suitable space at the boathouse.
Just before lockdown we were offered a grant from sport England to use for insulation and whilst this wasn’t enough money we have also secured additional funds from North Lincolnshire Council.
We have a working group looking at getting quotes for the work and ensuring the insulation is what is best for the boathouse and the members. Plans are available for anyone to look at and pass comments, concerns or ideas to anyone on the working group.
The boathouse is for us all so it is important we get it right.
At the minute we are just awaiting final quotes to ensure we have enough funds to complete this proposal.
If you have any comments or input please drop an email to Iain or have a chat at the river Tuesday or Thursdays.
