(Group A Races)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a33.00 \u2013 Under 18\u2019s &amp; all fun paddlers.<\/p>\n<p>Cheques payable to Pennine Canoe Club please.<\/p>\n<p>Entries can be e-mailed or phoned to me, and can be paid for on the day. Please enter in advance if possible (<i>by Wed 25<sup>th<\/sup> September please<\/i>). Entries received after Wed 25<sup>th<\/sup> September or <i>On The Day<\/i> will incur a late entry fee of \u00a31 in addition to the relevant entry fee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BCU\/ICF Cards (comprehensive) are required for all paddlers in Group A races\/division 1-9 inclusive. Juniors whose club has a registered youth section affiliated to the BCU may use their<\/p>\n<p>Paddlepower number. If unable to prove membership of BCU\/ICF a fee of \u00a35 will be charged on the day for an event ticket.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Check-in time\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/h1>\n<h2>10.30am \u2013 11.30am on Sunday 29<sup>th<\/sup> September 2013. Race briefing at 11.45am.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Race Start Time\u00a0 <\/span><\/h1>\n<h2>12 noon: 12 mile, 8 mile &amp; 4 mile followed by Lightning\u2019s and Fun Race (2 miles).<\/h2>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Prizes<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Prize giving will take place as soon as possible after all paddlers have finished the race.<\/p>\n<p>Medals will be awarded to 1<sup>st<\/sup> &amp; 2<sup>nd<\/sup> in each division, where there are sufficient competitors in that division. Paddleability, ladies and junior competitors will be recognised.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Buoyancy Aids<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Personal flotation devices must be worn by all paddlers in Divisions 7 \u2013 13 inclusive. For juniors racing in higher divisions, the use of buoyancy aids will be at their team manager\u2019s discretion.<\/p>\n<p>The Race organiser reserves the right to insist that all competitors wear buoyancy aids in the case of adverse water or weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Numbers on Boats<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Paddlers in Divisions 1 \u2013 8 should use the approved yellow number plates.<\/p>\n<p>Paddlers in Divisions 9 \u2013 13 should display their number clearly on their boat, either by using tape, or collect a laminated number card from the control point. (Please return these after use!)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Starting Order<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>The start time for the first division will be at 12 noon, the order of starting being from Division 1, through to 13. Please bear in mind that there may not be any paddlers in the higher divisions, therefore please be prepared to start your race from midday.<\/p>\n<p>Paddlers should assemble on the water behind the start line, and will be called forward to the starting line, by division.<\/p>\n<p>When numbers have been checked, the starter will begin your race with the words \u201c<b>READY, GO\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>It is your responsibility to be at the start on time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rules of the Waterway<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Other craft may be using the waterway. Paddlers will need to be able to cope with the wash and bow waves from these boats. Please paddle on the right side of the waterway, and be courteous to other water users, fishermen etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Turns<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>All turns should be made in an anti-clockwise direction, after passing the turn marshal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Finishing<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Paddlers should pass the finish line <b>in<\/b> their kayak\/canoe (pay attention John G ! ).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Safety<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Paddlers of all ages and abilities are very welcome to take part in this event, however individual clubs should ensure that their paddlers are appropriately equipped, and suitably experienced to participate in the race. If it is deemed necessary that an individual requires a support paddler, this should be provided by the individual\u2019s club wherever possible.<\/p>\n<p><b>If you see someone in difficulty or who has capsized, please stop to offer them help and provide assistance if requested to do so.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Results<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Times will be posted at the check-in point after the race has finished. If you require a copy of these, please send an S.A.E. to the race organiser, or your e-mail address.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Toilet Facilities<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>A portaloo \/ toilet tent will be available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cCanoeing and kayaking are \u201cAssumed risk\u201d \u2013 \u201cWater contact sports\u201d that may carry attendant risks.
