It is equipped with the newer style pedal steering rather than the traditional tiller bar so will provide a new experience for us all.

2) We have adapted one of our older stability 4/5 kayaks so that a side float can be fitted. This is to support our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda but it will also be useful to help newer, less stable, paddlers progress to a full racing boat.

3) We have bought a second hand Jaguar K1 which has been adapted to take an outrigger and become an OC1. Again this supports our EDI agenda but will also provide a great platform for any paddlers who would like to experience racing Canoe rather than Kayak. This boat is not yet at the club as it needs a bit of TLC!

Upcoming Races:

LINCOLN MARATHON 23rd APRIL

This race is an excellent opportunity for paddlers to test themselves against competitors from other regions. We are now taking entries. Forms will be available during club sessions. We had a team of 17 at our own event last weekend – lets make sure we have a good presence at Lincoln!

MARATHON AND SPRINT CALENDAR

Every paddler who wishes to compete in K1 the Hasler Finals MUST complete 3 Hasler events in K1 before the end of August. The K2 race can be entered as long as at least 3 races in K1 or K2 have been completed. Entry in canoe requires at least 3 Hasler entries in Canoe.

The list below shows dates for the rest of this year which may be of interest. Those marked with an asterisk (*) are either club events, regional events supported by the club or events outside the region where we plan to take a team. Club equipment is available for these events subject to the clubs equipment policy.

None asterisked items are events that may be of interest but will not be supported at a club level (i.e. we will not be taking a team). The club equipment policy does not permit the use of club equipment at such events unless permission has been specifically sought and granted by the committee.

Sunday 16th April South Lakes Hasler
*Sunday 23rd April Lincoln Hasler
*Saturday 29th April Regional Sprints at Brigg
Sunday 7th May Short Course Champs at Peterborough
*Sunday 21st May Malton Hasler
*Saturday 10th June Burton Hasler
*Sunday 18th June Derwent Mike Jones Hasler
Sunday 25th June Macclesfield Hasler
*Sunday 16th July Manvers Hasler
Sat/Sun 22nd/23rd July National Champs at Norwich
Sunday 10th September Soar Hasler
Sunday 10th September South Lakes Hasler
*TBC Hasler Finals
*Sunday 1st October Wolfreton Marathon
*Sunday 15th October Tony and Shirley Pell Hasler at Brigg
Sunday 29th October Malton to Howsham Descent

Training 1st April MARATHON TRAINING THIS SATURDAY starts at 2:30As Saturday is bag packing day at Tesco we will be starting marathon squad training a bit later.
