{"id":3152,"date":"2019-10-13T19:02:23","date_gmt":"2019-10-13T19:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gscc-online.com\/news\/?p=3152"},"modified":"2019-10-13T19:02:23","modified_gmt":"2019-10-13T19:02:23","slug":"gscc-provide-safety-cover-for-big-rowing-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gscc-online.com\/news\/2019\/10\/13\/gscc-provide-safety-cover-for-big-rowing-race\/","title":{"rendered":"GSCC provide safety cover for big rowing race"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> Martin, Steve and Dan had a very enjoyable day in the rain as safety cover and on-the-water marshals for the Ancholme Rowing Club &#8220;Ancholme Head&#8221; race today, further demonstrating the friendly co-operation between river users.<br>174 boats lined up for the two races and they were expertly marshalled into their correct stating place by the three in canoe and kayak.<br>It was cold as well as wet, so we had to be vigilant for hypothermia setting in, so Dan had some of the younger crews doing YMCA in their boats as a warm up exercise!<br>Here&#8217;s a photo Martin took of a crew from York who had acquired foil blankets before the race to keep warm while waiting!
