{"id":3108,"date":"2019-09-26T11:25:07","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T11:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gscc-online.com\/news\/?p=3108"},"modified":"2019-09-26T11:25:07","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T11:25:07","slug":"wolfreton-marathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gscc-online.com\/news\/2019\/09\/26\/wolfreton-marathon\/","title":{"rendered":"Wolfreton Marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>BOOK THIS DATE \u2013 Sunday October 6<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a\nseasoned racer or would like to try something a bit different \u2013 read on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first\nregional event in the new marathon season takes place at Wolfreton on Sunday 6<sup>th<\/sup>\nOctober.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is your\nchance to book a place to represent the club in next year\u2019s Hasler Finals at\nwhich you get the chance to compete with paddlers from all over the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club has\na good variety of boats available for you to use ranging from Lightnings (under\n12) through youth and adult K1s \u2013 Espada (youth) Tempest (stability 10); Pulsar\n(stability 8); Tor (stability 6); Eclipse (stability 3\/4) and a selection of K2s\nand Canoes.&nbsp; Some private boats can also\nbe borrowed by arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Juniors\ncompete in age graded divisions over 2 or 3 miles.&nbsp; Youths (under 14) can enter Division 10\n(singles) racing 4 miles.&nbsp; Novices (older\nteens and adults) usually start in Division 9 (4 miles) and progress to longer,\nmore challenging races based on their ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marathon\ntraining will take place on Thursday this week (26<sup>th<\/sup>) and Tuesday 1<sup>st<\/sup>\nOctober.&nbsp; Come and give it a try!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will\nalso be training sessions arranged throughout the winter depending on\nconditions and demand.
