We are running an introduction to moving water day at Howsham Weir on Sunday 1st October 2023. Spaces are limited so please let us know if you want to join us.
We aim to meet at Howsham Weir at 10:00am, or alternatively at the boathouse at 8:00am to collect kit.
Paddlers must be comfortable wearing a spraydeck and have good support strokes (braces).
All kit is provided by the club except personal clothing. You will need to bring with you:
- Kayak with fitted airbags
- Paddle
- Helmet
- Spraydeck
- PFD (Buoyancy aid)
- Wet suitor/dry cagoule & warm under layer
- Wet boots/shoes – No bare feet!
- Warm Drink
- Lunch pack up
- Towel
- Change of clothes
We will be sat around for a while during lunch so please take some extra blankets/towels/clothes etc to keep nice and warm before the afternoon session.
There is pedestrian access from the parking layby for parents to carry the food! It is a short 5 minute walk to the weir.
