AGM Club Report 2022/2023
I want to open by thanking everyone for being members of the Club and for coming along to this evening’s AGM

The club currently has 101 members and membership is due at the start of April. Unfortunately, we have had to increase the costs of the membership and fees to paddle, we will however strive to keep these as low as we can for as long as we can

2022 was the clubs 40th anniversary, founded in 1982 by Tony Pell. We celebrated this, with a great day on and off the river. We were joined by invited guests including previous members and other river users including the rowing and boat clubs.

2022 also saw the club retain British Canoeing’s Quality club award, this demonstrates that we run the club activities well beyond what’s required by British Canoeing and is applied for every 12 months

To Koren, Kelly, Lydia and other volunteers thank you for getting #She Paddles into the club’s portfolio and thank you to the ladies who came along for supporting these sessions we look forward to more in 2023

From the Chair’s perspective I want to say to all the Committee, to the Coaches, the Paddle Sports assistants, the aspiring coaches, and volunteers for the all the work they put into the club and all for no reward – a big thank you from theme

And to the members I do hope we the club offer you what you need to participate, if not let one of us know.

Finally, I’d like to thank Sue for carrying out the secretarial role for the club, standing in to fill a void and for the time spent typing up our long, no very long committee minutes

Disciplines report – Graham
This year we have seen a return to competition in marathon and other disciplines at the national level.
The marathon squad has made steady progress and now numbers approximately 20 paddlers.  Our squad is mainly male, and we would especially welcome some more female paddlers.  We have seen progress amongst both our younger and older paddlers with a number gaining promotion during the year.  We won the senior and junior regional cups and attended the Hasler Finals at Runnymede.  We even had one of our paddlers, Matilda, featuring in the national post event report.  This coming year we are hosting our two regular Hasler marathons as well as attending all the regional events and some farther afield.  We hope to continue our success this year and invite anyone to come and join us either at Saturday training or even in competition.  Our first event is at Brigg on 26th March.
We have also seen a bit of a revival of interest in Slalom and Polo and hope that we can get some people to events during the year.
Finally, we have been running gym sessions through the winter.  These have been supported by a small, dedicated group of paddlers but there is always room for more to join us.

Coaching Officer report – Steve
It’s been a busy bit rewarding year I would like to thank all the coaches and assistants who have given their time to coach over the last year with out there help we wouldn’t be able to run any of the session

Fundraising – Michelle
I’d like everyone who supports us by doing lincs lotto, using the easy funding site and providing cakes and raffle prizes throughout the year. All fundraising  is always appreciated and well supported by everyone.
