Well done to our nine paddlers who raced today in the Mike Jones Memorial Marathon on the river Derwent. It was a bright and sunny afternoon, though a little breezy, with the wind blowing up the river against the flow.
Neil was paddling in div 5 (8 miles), coming 2nd with a time of 77-12.
Debuting in div 7 in K1s (having been promoted to div 7 due to their previous K2 success) Connor and Charles battled it out over 4 miles. Connor came home first with a time of 39-05, with Charles second in 39-25.
However, paddling in div 8 (4 miles) Alfie returned a great time of 37-08 to not only win div 8 but also to beat all div 7 times!
Lydia came 2nd in div 8 with a time of 40-20, without any training recently due to exams.
In div 9 (4 miles), Louie came a creditable 3rd with a time of 43.38, but Dave took a dip to cool off a few times so returned a time of 70-15.
In the Geoff Sanders 2 mile race, Matilda was 1st with a time of 22-30 and Oliver second with a time of 26.52.
