A busy weekend!

Ancholme River Festival

Saturday was the 4th annual Ancholme River Festival and we had a record 124 people trying kayak or canoe!

Special thanks to Alisha, Caitlin, Jamelia, Nicole (pictured below in front of our stand), Hannah and Mikey. They were brilliant all day distributing leaflets and helping people get sorted with kit and getting them on the water. Thanks also to out adult helpers Vicky, Donna, Janine, Alison and Kelly and to all the coaches, Iain, Neil, Steve, Martin, Garry, Zandra and Graham, but especially to Iain, Neil and Steve who coached all day without a break, that’s over 5 hours!! And finally thanks to all at the Ancholme Rowing Club for hosting the event and helping us out too during busy times (most of the day!).

Brigg Bomber Quadrathlon

On Sunday we provided safety cover for the swimming and kayaking sections of the Brigg Bomber Quadrathlon. For the open water swimming we provide the lead kayak, Caitlin, with Iain, Steve, Alisha & Nicole and Jameilia & Mikey in canoes and Neil and Dan on SUP. The SUPS paddled with the swimmers and Steve followed the last swimmer. The other placed themselves at regular intervals between our jetty and the railway bridge. Fortunately no one needed our help!

For the kayak section, Neil followed the last paddler.

Fun time!

It’s not all work and no play! As a reward for their hard work on both days, some of our helpers took advantage of the fine weather and had some well earned fun!
