Welcome to our first newsletter of 2014! Below you can find dates and details of our remaining events for 2014, and we have a question for you about our Xmas party.

Summer Holidays River Sessions

Our summer holiday season starts on Thursday 31st July and runs every Thursday throughout August. We are still running two sessions: 6:00pm to 6:50pm and 7:10pm to 8:00pm, but no booking is necessary. It is Pay and Paddle on the night and is strictly first-come-first-served for club equipment.
We will be providing coached sessions, with groups organised on the night and allocated to available coaches. This is a good time to try something different or practice those self-rescue skills. Cost for these sessions will be £5.
Don’t forget that social paddling is still available for those who do not require coaching, but please remember that club restrictions for social paddling apply: You must have your own boat and your own BCU licence, and your paddling ability be of the required standard (the senior coach on the night will assess this). Cost for this is £2

September River Sessions

BCU star and paddlepower awards will resume on 4th September for a four week course. Bookings are now being taken! There will be only one session per night, starting at 6:30pm and the cost will be £20 for the four weeks. Social paddling is also available at £2 per week, restrictions as above.

September Club Whitewater Weekend

Following the success of the weekend away in May, we are having another club weekend on the River Ure near Ripon during the weekend of 13/14 September. More details to follow soon, but this is a great fun weekend as is open to all. Please book your caravan or camping pitch now and please book direct with the campsite at www.sleningfordwatermill.co.uk

Fancy Dress Torchlit Paddle & Prize Presentation

We conclude our river season on Thursday 2nd October with our traditional fancy dress torchlit paddle. This will be followed by hotdogs and a short prize presentation for this seasons event winners. More details to follow nearer the time.

Winter Pool Sessions

Winter pool sessions start on Saturday 4th October. There will be three sessions at 5:30pm, 6:20pm and 7:10pm. Bookings are now being taken! There are only 12 places per session, so please book early. Courses run through a calendar month and cost is £5 per week, but we require payment in advance for the whole course to ensure we cover pool hire charges, so for October this will be £20.

Christmas Party

This is where we need your help. Our Christmas party has followed the same format for several years now, and we think it is time for a change. However, we don’t know what to do so we are asking for your suggestions. Perhaps you want a bowling night, a disco, or go out for a meal. Please tell us what you want to do.
