Fancy Dress Torchlit Paddle Thursday 2nd October !

Don’t miss our annual end of river season Fancy Dress Torchlit Paddle! Dress up yourself and your boat however you like (but keep it safe, you still need your buoyancy aid!) and finish off with lots of lights (don’t forget your head torch!).

Please be at the river for our normal start time of 6:00pm, but don’t forget to allow plenty of time to decorate your boat. We will have judging on the bank before the paddle starts. there might even be a prize! Then we’ll paddle upstream past the railway bridge and return in the dark!!

Then it’s BBQ time outside the boathouse! (If you want BBQ food, please add your name to the list in the boathouse or in the event on our facebook page).

Whitewater Weekend!

Don’t forget to join us for our last club weekend of 2014. We will be paddling on the River Ure near Ripon during the weekend of 13/14 September and this is a great fun weekend that is open to all.
If you have not paddled on moving water before then this is a great venue to give it a go and you will be coached by our own regular coaches. At this time of year the levels are usually low enough for all, and for those who don’t fancy the small rapids, there is a large flat pool at the bottom. Please note though that after heavy rain the river can rise very quickly and become unsuitable for beginners. In these conditions paddlers will only be allowed on at the senior coaches discretion.
There is a caravan and camping site right next to the river so please book your caravan or camping pitch now! Please book direct with the campsite at When using the online booking, put in the ”additional information” window that you are with GSCC.

If you have already booked to go and need club kit, please add your name to the list in our boathouse, ticking the relevant boxes for the kit you want to borrow. PLEASE REMEMBER YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TRANSPORT BORROWED BOATS TO THE VENUE, OR MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DO SO. There is no charge for borrowing club boats etc.
