The Hasler Canoe Marathon National finals are this weekend and we are getting very excited! Over 500, yes 500, paddlers will be taking part in all divisions on the River Thames at Richmond, London, this Sunday 24th September. The forecast is 21 degrees and sunshine, so why not pop down and support your club mates?!

We can confirm our entries as follows:

Div 8 K1 :Tom Shoulder
Div 9 K1: Caitlin Marley
U12F Lightning: Nicole Allison
U12F Lightning: Ellie Beedham
U10F Lightning: Annabel Taylor
Div 8 C2: Jim McCague and Julian Selby
Div 9 K2: Rebecca Selby and Hannah Senior

Unfortunately Neil Marley has had to withdraw due to him fracturing his thumb at work. Julian Selby has moved form K1 to partner Jim in the C2 in his place. Our other qualifiers, Alison Cooksey and Fred Pattinson, are unable to attend.

Neil is of course in charge, and assisting is Martin Heywood, no doubt with help and encouragement from the parents

You can download the 2017 Race Programme by clicking here, and see the full entry list by clicking here. (We are aware of some duplicate entries of our paddlers).

We are very please to announce that we have been successful with our grant application to Sport England for £10,000 to purchase several new marathon boats!

We will be purchasing a mixture of boats of varying stability. More details will follow in due course after the coaches has finalised the specification for the boats.

The committee would like to thank our Fundraising Officer, Zandra Holden, for all her hard work in preparing the bid.

Trailer Transport Fuel Costs

We had a great day at Malton & Norton Marathon so thanks to Neil Marley for organising it, and to Jim McCague for pulling the club trailer. We had 12 families represented at the event, most of which had a boat on the trailer, so can I suggest a voluntary contribution of £2 per family who attended to cover fuel costs?.
