Tuesday 27th – Sprint competition
Tomorrow is our club sprint competition and we have specialist and general purpose boat categories for adult, secondary school age and primary school age in both male and female – everybody can give it a go!. We have FIVE very stable junior racing boats suitable for even our most recent canoeists so bring your young children to give it a go at 6pm on Tuesday 27th. Races are only 200 metres (and possibly 500m) so everything can be seen from the clubhouse area.
Entry is FREE to all club members and you will gain points towards being the overall CLUB CHAMPION in your age/gender group.
Sprint medals are also up for grabs!
This is event one of our three-event club championship! The other parts are marathon (23rd Sept tbc) and slalom on (19th June tbc). Points are awarded in the various age groups and the people in each age group with the most points at the end of the series are our club champions 2025!
If you are booked on for SUP tomorrow, that is still on, but you can have a go at the sprint on your SUP if you want!
Thursday 29th – The Big Paddle Cleanup 2025
The Big Paddle Cleanup is two weeks of action to continue the mission to improve our precious blue places, and GSCC are going to join in by cleaning up our river.
We will be doing one session this year:

Open to all ages as long as they fit a buoyancy aid. Parents are welcome to join in, we just need you to sign in if they are not members.
We have all the equipment, we just need your help to be part of this national event.
