Wye Float and Paddle

We are planning to attend the Wye Float on at Hereford Saturday 3rd August, followed by a club trip down the Wye, possibly from Ross-on-Wye to Symonds Yat on Sunday 4th August.

The Wye float is a one day river and music festival based at the canoe/rowing club in Hereford and involves a one and half hour float down the river on any inflatable. The music festival continues until 10:00pm. This is not part of the club trip itself, but Dan and Martin are planning on attending.

The Sunday trip is the club event and involves a day flat water paddle on the beautiful river Wye (paddling with the flow!), possibly from Ross-on-Wye to Symond’s Yat, getting out before the rapids. This is a lovely stretch of river, especially as you approach Yat Rock and is considered to be one of the most beautiful, scenic and and accessible rivers to paddle in England.

Club members can borrow club boats and equipment for this trip.

Camping is available at the festival venue from Friday night until Wednesday, though we are only planning two nights (Friday and Saturday) at the moment. You can or course stay extra nights and “do your own thing” but any further river trips would need be with your own boats and kits and your responsibility.

If you are interested in attending, please let Dan Snow or Martin Heywood know.
