Recent Session Cancellations Explained

We apologise again for the cancellation of sessions last week due to strong flow river warnings issued by the Environment Agency. The flow is caused by the EA opening the sluice gates at Ferriby to release the Ancholme into the River Humber and thus prevent flooding. And I’m sure everybody can appreciate the amount of rainfall this past week. The EA then issue said warnings via text message and these are received by several of our coaches who then make the decision to cancel or not.

If anybody would like to register to receive these updates by the EA it is free to do so and quite simple by following the link below.

We do recommend not to base your visit to the club solely on this information though as sometimes the warnings can be left in place longer than necessary and issued in haste. This is why a final decision is made by the coaches as they arrive at the club on the night of a session.

Another useful tool to have is the Environment Agencies river level monitoring page, this tells you the current height of the Ancholme and any flood warnings in place.
